HOUSTON, Texas — A search is underway for a 25-year-old Jordanian soccer player who disappeared while visiting Houston for the Genuine Cup, an international soccer tournament for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
According to the Rice University Police Department, Rabe’e Ata Juma’a Alqaq was last seen around midnight between Saturday and Sunday after leaving Martel Hall on the Rice University campus to explore the city. Investigators say he has not been seen since.
Police said Alqaq has cerebral palsy but is fully mobile. However, he does not speak English, making communication more difficult and increasing concern for his safety.
Investigators have released a new photograph of Alqaq in hopes the public can help identify his whereabouts.
The search includes officers from several law enforcement agencies and volunteers from Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR), who are assisting in ongoing efforts across the Houston area.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen Alqaq or has information about his whereabouts to contact the Rice University Police Department at 713-348-6000.
The investigation remains active, and officials continue to ask the public to stay alert and report any possible sightings.
