Houston, TX – In the wake of the devastating wildfires sweeping through Southern California, the Houston Texans have pledged $1 million to aid in relief efforts. This contribution is part of a larger $5 million commitment from the NFL community, including the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and the NFL Foundation.
“The devastation caused by the wildfires in Southern California is heartbreaking,” said Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair. “We are proud to join with our NFL family to provide support and resources to those impacted, as well as the heroic firefighters and first responders working tirelessly to contain the fires.”
The wildfires have ravaged communities, displacing families and overwhelming emergency response teams. While the Texans’ donation will provide housing assistance, emergency aid, and long-term recovery support, the need for help continues to grow.
How You Can Make a Difference
As relief efforts ramp up, here’s how individuals can contribute to supporting affected communities:
• Donate to Trusted Organizations: Charities like the American Red Cross, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and California Fire Foundation are on the front lines providing emergency relief and assistance to displaced families and first responders.
• Support Firefighters: Contribute to organizations such as the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which offers critical resources to firefighters and their families during and after emergencies.
• Volunteer Locally or Remotely: Many disaster relief organizations need volunteers to assist with donation sorting, food distribution, or administrative support.
• Provide Essentials: Look for local drives collecting water, clothing, hygiene supplies, and non-perishable food items.
• Raise Awareness: Share verified donation links and resources on social media to encourage others to support relief efforts.
The NFL’s united commitment to wildfire relief demonstrates the power of collaboration in times of crisis. However, individuals and communities outside the NFL can play a critical role by offering assistance in any capacity.
If you or someone you know has been impacted by the wildfires, we want to hear your story. Sharing these experiences can bring attention to the ongoing challenges and inspire others to act.
As Southern California begins the long journey to recovery, the Texans’ efforts — and the support of countless others — offer a beacon of hope to those in need.
