The warmth of community spirit shone brightly at this year’s Community Iftar, a special evening hosted by Afsheen Bha with the dedicated efforts of Sohail Arshad, Shairoz Ali, and Ayesha Khan of the Harvest Green & Aliana Community. Held at Huqqa Social’s Private Party Hall, the event brought together families, friends, and influential local figures for an evening of unity, reflection, and togetherness.

The Iftar served as more than just a time to break fast; it became a platform for community engagement and connection. Prominent local leaders and public figures lent their support, including Judge Christian Becerra (FBC 434th District), Constable Patrick Quincy (Precinct 4), family law attorney Jamie Jordan, and Sugar Land mayoral candidate Sarwar Khan. Several city council candidates, such as Muzaffar Vohra, Ameer Malik, and Dr. Zeenat Mitha, also attended, alongside Bilal Saeed from Richmond Medical Center, reflecting the diverse leadership present at the gathering.

With a 6:30 p.m. start, attendees enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where meaningful conversations flourished alongside a delicious spread for Iftar. The organizers ensured affordability, with tickets priced at $25 per adult and $10 for children (ages 5-10). Any excess funds from the event were pledged to the Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH), reinforcing the community’s commitment to charity and service.

This Community Iftar not only provided a spiritual and cultural experience but also strengthened the bonds within Sugar Land’s diverse neighborhoods. Thanks to the hard work of Afsheen Bha and team Sohail Arshad, Shairoz Ali, and Ayesha Khan, this evening will be remembered as a shining example of how faith, leadership, and community engagement come together to create lasting impact.
