SUGAR LAND, Texas – Police in Sugar Land are urging residents to stay alert and safeguard their property after a recent spike in both home burglaries and vehicle break-ins across the community.

According to the Sugar Land Police Department, a ninth home burglary was reported last week, marking the latest in a string of break-ins that began shortly after the Fourth of July holiday. The most recent crimes have primarily targeted unoccupied homes in the First Colony area and near Sweetwater Country Club.

While police emphasize that no violence has been reported, the department says the incidents remain a serious concern. Investigators believe the burglars are striking in the early evening hours, often when homeowners are away.

On Sunday night, police met with concerned residents during a community meeting at Sweetwater Country Club to share updates and safety recommendations.

“We understand how unsettling this is for our neighbors,” said a Sugar Land Police Department spokesperson. “We’re using every resource available to identify and apprehend those responsible.”

In recent days, residents have noticed increased patrols and drone activity as officers step up efforts to track the suspects. The number of individuals involved is still unknown.

To help deter future crimes, Sugar Land PD is distributing a three-page security tip sheet and offering free home security assessments to homeowners. Officers are also reminding the public to remove valuables from vehicles, lock car doors, and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Residents are encouraged to stay connected through neighborhood watch programs and to share home surveillance footage that may assist investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sugar Land Police Department or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.
