SUGAR LAND, TX— While much of the nation celebrated Independence Day with fireworks and festivities, a different kind of tribute unfolded at a heartfelt Veterans Wellness Lunch organized by Maryum Khan and a dedicated team of volunteers from Starring Humanity.
Held on July 4th, the event served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of supporting those who have selflessly served the nation. The luncheon brought together a diverse group of veterans, community leaders, and local officials in a spirit of healing, gratitude, and unity.
Among the esteemed guests in attendance were Judge Christian Becerra, Judge Juli Mathew, Judge Tyra McCollum, and Judge Surendran K. Pattel, whose presence underscored the community’s deep respect and commitment to honoring veterans.
Attendees engaged in meaningful conversations and shared powerful stories, creating an atmosphere of connection and care. With a focus on wellness, the gathering highlighted both the physical and emotional needs of veterans, offering resources, support, and above all — appreciation.
Organizer Maryum Khan, known for her tireless efforts in community service, expressed gratitude for the turnout and the opportunity to serve those who have served us. “This lunch was about more than just food — it was about healing, recognizing, and reminding our veterans that they are never forgotten,” she said.
The Veterans Wellness Lunch was a moving example of what community looks like when empathy meets action — a true Fourth of July celebration rooted in gratitude and service.
