The event invites Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds to come together in remembrance of the martyrs of Karbala, a moment central to Islamic history that symbolizes standing for truth and justice in the face of oppression.

Guests will be served Haleem, a traditional and symbolic dish often associated with Muharram gatherings, meant to foster communal harmony and shared memory.

“This isn’t just a food gathering — it’s a moment to reflect, to remember the sacrifices made, and to connect as a community,” shared one of the organizers.

The event is free and open to all, encouraging families, friends, and individuals to attend with an open heart. It promises to be a meaningful day of remembrance, dialogue, and spiritual connection.

Organizing Committee Includes:
Nusrat Laghari, Khursheed, Erum Hussain, Anjum Kamran, Shahab Khan, Sadaf Nadeem, Shahid Khan, Farah Khan, Tanzil Hoorani, and Aasma Shoukat.

Whether you come to reflect, remember, or simply stand in solidarity, the Haleem Gathering welcomes you with open arms.
