Houston Pediatrician Terminated After Controversial Post Mocking Kerr County Flood Victims

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston pediatrician has been fired following a social media post that appeared to mock the victims of the devastating Kerr County floods, which have claimed at least 75 lives, including 27 children.

Dr. Christina Propst, a physician formerly with Blue Fish Pediatrics, sparked outrage after a comment surfaced online during the weekend, seemingly politicizing the tragedy based on the area’s conservative leanings.

The post, which quickly went viral, read:
“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”

Community members across Houston and beyond reacted with anger and sadness, calling in to local media and flooding social platforms with criticism of the doctor’s words, especially as families mourn the loss of loved ones.

In response, Blue Fish Pediatrics released an official statement on Sunday, announcing that Dr. Propst was no longer part of their medical team.

“This past weekend, we were made aware of a social media comment from one of our physicians. The individual is no longer employed by Blue Fish Pediatrics. As we previously mentioned in our original statement, we strongly condemn the comments that were made in that post. That post does not reflect the values, standards, or mission of Blue Fish Pediatrics. We do not support or condone any statement that politicizes tragedy, diminishes human dignity, or fails to clearly uphold compassion for every child and family.”

The clinic reaffirmed its commitment to compassion and support for all families, especially those impacted by the disaster.

The tragedy in Kerr County has united Texans in mourning, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for sensitivity and empathy during times of crisis. As search and rescue efforts continue, communities across the state remain focused on healing and recovery.
