HOUSTON, TX – July 4, 2025:
In a heartfelt tribute to American ideals of freedom and unity, the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH) organized a Flag Hoisting Ceremony on Friday morning at the Pakistan Center, commemorating the 249th Independence Day of the United States.
The event drew a vibrant and diverse crowd, including families, youth, and local leaders, united in their respect for the values that define the American spirit. The ceremony began promptly at 10:30 AM with the hoisting of the American flag, followed by patriotic music and solemn reflection.
Consul General of Pakistan in Houston, Chaudhry Aftab Ahmed, was among the prestigious guests in attendance. His presence underscored the strong diplomatic and community ties between the Pakistani-American diaspora and the broader Houston community.
Also in attendance was Texas State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, accompanied by his wife, Zakia Lalani. Their participation further highlighted the contributions of Pakistani-Americans in public service and civic life across Texas.
Speaking at the event, organizers emphasized the importance of celebrating America’s Independence Day not only as a national milestone but as a symbol of shared values embraced by immigrant communities. “This day reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy and the diversity that strengthens this country,” said a PAGH spokesperson.
The ceremony offered a powerful display of multicultural unity, with both American and Pakistani flags proudly displayed, representing the dual identity and mutual respect shared by the community.
As the United States marked 249 years of independence, the gathering at the Pakistan Center stood as a reminder that patriotism knows no boundaries—and that immigrants continue to play an essential role in shaping the American story
