Street Racing Turns Deadly in Sugar Land: Two Men Charged with Manslaughter After Killing Newlywed in Hit Crash

SUGAR LAND, TX – June 25, 2025 — A late-night illegal street race in Sugar Land has ended in heartbreak, with a young man’s life cut short and two drivers now facing serious felony charges.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, June 22, police say the drivers of a Ford Mustang and a BMW were speeding and racing each other along Highway 6, when the Mustang violently collided with a Toyota Camry exiting a nearby restaurant.

The victim inside the Camry was 28-year-old Muhammad Ibrahim Mazhar, an Indian national, who had recently gotten married and was enjoying dinner just before the fatal crash. He died at the scene.

Ibrahim had been living alone in Houston while working as an IT specialist. He had no family in the U.S., and his immigration process was still underway. Local businessman Jahanzaib Lakhani, who employed Ibrahim and spoke to madihamasood.live, said he reached out to Ibrahim’s family in India and received their consent to bury him in Houston.

“This is a devastating loss. He was a newlywed and such a respectful young man, just starting his life here. I spoke to his father. He asked us to handle everything as if Ibrahim was our own,” said Lakhani.

Authorities arrested 20-year-old Roman Pollock, the Mustang driver from Fresno, TX, at the scene. The BMW driver, 26-year-old Kamran Kamran of Houston, fled immediately after the crash but was later located by investigators. Both have now been charged:
• Pollock: Manslaughter
• Kamran: Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid

🚔 Sugar Land Police Speak Out

“This tragedy should never have happened,” the Sugar Land Police Department said in a statement. “Street racing is not a game—it’s a reckless, illegal act that endangers lives. We will continue to aggressively pursue and prosecute those who violate the law and put others at risk.”

🕌 A Final Farewell

On Tuesday, June 24, the local Muslim community gathered at ISGH Masjid Hamza to perform Ibrahim’s Salat-ul-Janazah (funeral prayer), followed by his burial at ISGH Muslim Cemetery in Waller, TX.

Dozens came to pray, mourn, and carry out the sacred duty of burying a brother who had no family nearby. The incident has sent ripples of shock and grief across Houston’s South Asian and Muslim communities.

⚖ Justice and Reflection

The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and street racing, which continue to claim innocent lives across the country. As the legal process begins for the two suspects, the community now mourns a young man taken too soon, and a family overseas grapples with unimaginable loss.

Police urge anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident to come forward.
