Houston, TX – In a landmark move acknowledging the contributions of Pakistani-Americans, the Texas House of Representatives has officially designated March 23 as Pakistan Day. The resolution, led by State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, highlights the growing cultural and diplomatic ties between Texas and Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston, Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, attended the event and emphasized the significant role of Pakistani Texans in various fields, including social, religious, linguistic, and economic sectors. The resolution honors their professional achievements, rich cultural legacy, and unwavering dedication to peace and prosperity, all of which have played a crucial role in Texas’ growth and success.

Prior to the resolution’s formal introduction, Consul General Chaudhry met with Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows to express appreciation for his support in passing the measure. During their discussion, Chaudhry extended an invitation for Burrows to visit Pakistan, accompanied by a delegation of Texas lawmakers and business leaders. The visit would focus on strengthening trade and investment opportunities between the two regions.
The day’s events culminated in a cultural and diplomatic gathering, as Dr. Suleman Lalani hosted a special Iftar dinner at the Texas Capitol.
