HOUSTON, TX — July 1, 2025
In an atmosphere heavy with sorrow and prayer, the Houston community came together over the past two days to bid farewell to Ahmad Siddiqi and Syed Almeer Hassan Ashraf, two young souls who tragically lost their lives in a devastating car crash on June 27.
The back-to-back funerals, held at ISGH Masjid Hamza and followed by burials at ISGH Muslim Cemetery in Waller, brought hundreds from across the city — united in grief, reflection, and remembrance.
🕊 Ahmad Siddiqi, Age 13
Laid to rest on Sunday, June 29, Ahmad’s janazah was marked by an outpouring of love from classmates, family friends, and local leaders. Known for his bright smile and kind heart, Ahmad’s passing has deeply impacted the youth and families of the Houston Muslim community.
🕊 Syed Almeer Hassan Ashraf
Honored in prayer and laid to rest on Tuesday, July 1, Almeer was remembered as a compassionate and respectful young man, beloved by all who knew him. The funeral was filled with emotional moments as family, friends, and neighbors embraced each other, struggling to process the tragic loss.
“Two families are forever changed. These weren’t just names in a headline — they were sons, brothers, friends,” said a family representative. “Houston stood with us. That means everything.”
Both funerals took place at ISGH Masjid Hamza, with prayers beginning at 2:00 PM and burials held shortly after at ISGH Muslim Cemetery, where the two boys now rest side by side.
A community fundraiser has been launched to support the grieving families with funeral expenses and emotional recovery. The goal is $20,000, with thousands already raised by friends, neighbors, and generous strangers.
As the community begins the slow journey of healing, their message is clear:
“We will remember them. We will honor them. And we will stand with their families — not just today, but always.”
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un — Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.
