Fort Bend Candidates Face Community Questions at Bipartisan Candidate Forum

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Voters and community members gathered for a lively bipartisan candidate forum that brought together Democratic and Republican nominees for Fort Bend County Treasurer and County Commissioner Precinct 4.

The forum featured Jeffrey L. Boney, Democratic nominee for County Treasurer; Bill Rickert, Republican candidate for County Treasurer; April L. Jones, Democratic nominee for County Commissioner Precinct 4; and Ken Mathews, Republican nominee for County Commissioner Precinct 4.

The event provided residents with an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about their priorities, leadership approaches and vision for Fort Bend County. Candidates discussed issues relevant to the responsibilities of the offices they are seeking and offered voters insight into what their administration could look like if elected.

Organizers described the forum as another successful effort by the PAC to encourage civic participation and create opportunities for voters to engage directly with candidates from both major political parties.

The discussion was moderated by Attorney Waleed Muhammad Vohra and ESD President Shazib Iqbal, who guided the candidates through questions and kept the conversation focused on issues important to the community.

The forum drew a strong turnout, with the venue filled by residents, community leaders, political party representatives, candidates and other engaged citizens. Attendees included members of both the Democratic and Republican communities, highlighting the bipartisan nature of the gathering.

Organizers said the strong attendance demonstrated the community’s interest in learning more about candidates and participating in the political process ahead of the election.

The event also underscored the importance of candidate forums in a growing county such as Fort Bend, where voters have the opportunity to compare candidates, hear different perspectives and make informed decisions at the ballot box.

Special recognition was given to Kahwa Culture for providing its facility for the event. Organizers also thanked Jazar Wasim for assisting with logistics, microphones and event setup.

With a packed room, questions from an engaged audience and candidates representing both sides of the political spectrum, the forum offered a platform for public dialogue and voter engagement.

For Fort Bend residents, events such as these provide an important opportunity to hear directly from those seeking public office and to better understand the choices that will appear on the ballot.

“A packed room, great questions, prepared candidates and an engaged community — that’s democracy in action,” organizers said.
