HOUSTON — Supporters, elected officials, attorneys, and community leaders gathered Wednesday evening at Carrabba’s on Kirby to support Judge Lori DeAngelo, who serves on the 495th Criminal District Court of Harris County, as she seeks another term on the bench.
The fundraiser drew a strong turnout as supporters emphasized the importance of maintaining experience and continuity within one of Harris County’s busiest criminal courts. The event was hosted by a committee that included Gianpaolo “GP” Macerola, Stephen Touchstone, Tucker Graves, Jose Julio Vela, Justin Keiter, Paul Morgan, and Tyrone Moncriffe.
Judge DeAngelo thanked the host committee, donors, and supporters for their continued confidence in her judicial service, saying their support is essential as the campaign enters the final months before Election Day.
The 495th Criminal District Court hears felony criminal cases, including violent offenses and other serious crimes. Judges serving in Harris County’s criminal district courts are responsible for overseeing criminal trials, ruling on legal motions, ensuring constitutional protections are upheld, and imposing sentences when defendants are convicted.

Supporters at the event described DeAngelo as an experienced conservative jurist committed to applying the law fairly while prioritizing public safety. They said her campaign focuses on maintaining accountability in the criminal justice system, protecting victims’ rights, and ensuring that criminal cases move efficiently through the courts.
Several attendees noted that judicial races often receive less public attention than executive or legislative contests, despite the significant role judges play in determining bail, presiding over trials, interpreting the law, and safeguarding due process.
With approximately three months remaining before voters head to the polls, campaign organizers encouraged supporters to remain engaged, volunteer, and participate in early voting.
As Harris County prepares for another closely watched election cycle, judicial contests such as the race for the 495th Criminal District Court are expected to play an important role in shaping the county’s criminal justice system. Supporters expressed confidence that Judge DeAngelo’s courtroom experience, commitment to the rule of law, and emphasis on public safety position her strongly for the upcoming election.
