Pakistani Mango Exports Double as Houston Festival Promotes Trade and Culture

HOUSTON, Texas — Pakistani mangoes were celebrated as some of the world’s finest during the annual Mango Festival hosted by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston, bringing together elected officials, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the Pakistani-American community to promote Pakistan’s agricultural exports and strengthen cultural ties.

Organized with the support of Farm Fresh, the festival featured a showcase of Pakistan’s premium mango varieties, including Sindhri, Chaunsa, and Anwar Ratol, allowing guests to experience the rich flavor, aroma, and quality that have made Pakistani mangoes internationally renowned.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Aftab Chaudhry said Pakistan exported 190,000 boxes of mangoes to the United States this year, nearly doubling exports from the previous year.

“The increasing demand for Pakistani mangoes in the United States reflects their exceptional quality and growing popularity,” Chaudhry said, adding that the Consulate will continue promoting Pakistan’s agricultural products and expanding trade opportunities in the U.S. market.

Community leaders and elected officials praised Pakistani mangoes as unmatched in taste and quality.

Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong, a Republican, said he enjoys Pakistani mangoes and described them as “the best mangoes in the world.” He added that their unique sweetness, fragrance, and flavor distinguish them from mangoes grown anywhere else.

Leading Pakistani-American community member Imran Tahir, who hails from Multan, Pakistan, a region famous for producing some of the country’s finest mangoes, also voiced his support for Pakistan’s mango industry.

“There is simply no match for the taste of Pakistani mangoes,” Tahir said. “They are the sweetest and finest mangoes in the world, and every Pakistani takes pride in sharing them with others.”

Saeed Sheikh, President of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association, said Pakistani mangoes have long been appreciated by prominent American leaders. He noted that former U.S. President George W. Bush and Texas Governor Greg Abbott are among those who enjoy Pakistani mangoes. Sheikh also recognized Houston businessman Syed Javed Anwar for continuing the tradition of presenting Pakistani mangoes as gifts to influential American leaders each year.

Salman Razaqi, a leader of the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, said Pakistan has enormous potential to expand its mango exports.

“If the Pakistani government provides greater support to the mango industry through stronger export policies, international marketing, and trade facilitation, Pakistan’s mango sector can become a $1 billion export industry,” Razaqi said.

The festival attracted a large gathering of elected officials, government representatives, business leaders, and members of the Pakistani-American community. Beyond celebrating one of Pakistan’s most prized agricultural products, the event served as a platform to strengthen economic cooperation, promote bilateral trade, and introduce more American consumers to the exceptional quality of Pakistani mangoes.

With exports continuing to rise and international demand growing, organizers said the festival reflects the increasing global recognition of Pakistani mangoes and their potential to become one of the country’s leading agricultural exports.
